I’m always thrilled when the annual Queensland Homes Magazine (Gold Edition) arrives in the mail – it is full of pretty things and I am always absorbed for a good number of days that follow.
The first attraction is to check the Queensland Interior Decorators (QIDA) page (pg 136) where I am featured. This is the third consecutive year that I have scored a spot.
This year’s edition is an absolute readers delight with 280 pages of design inspiration. The editorials that catch my eye first up are those that exhibit good design and elements of peacefulness, tranquility and spirituality. There are so many beautiful personal stores of passion, love and purpose in creating and building their preferred masterpiece.
The standout for me is the family residence of Ian Jones and Jenny Polley referred to as “The Beechwoods” in the Sunshine Coast hinterland (Pg 54…).
The outside surrounds are a wild life haven – luscious green grass, blossoming trees, rock walls, flowering plants and natural waterfalls.
There are five pavilion styled buildings, interconnected by stepping stone paths, each with its own distinctive plan and purpose.
The main pod comprises modern kitchen and living area for the large extended families to connect during the day and early evening prior to retiring to their individual pod.
Visitors and friends join yoga classes and swim in the natural water hole or laze in the bath-house in a beautiful spiritual setting.
Just flicking through the pages and dreaming of what it would be like living or visiting such a place makes it feel like an unbelievable life experience.
