Mindfulness is a hot topic in coaching and therapy – experts increasingly recognise that developing mindfulness skills is an effective way to achieve emotional balance, develop a sense of inner calm, improve performance, deepen your sense of purpose, while also reducing anxiety, stress, and vulnerability to pain, painful thoughts and feelings.
There are many facets to mindfulness, including living in the present moment; engaging fully in what you are doing rather than ‘getting lost’ in your thoughts; and allowing your feelings to be as they are, letting them come and go rather than trying to control them. Russ Harris author of The Happiness Trap refers to mindfulness as “consciously bringing awareness to your here-and-now experience, with openness, interest and receptiveness.” When you observe your private experiences with openness and receptiveness, even the most painful thoughts, feelings, sensations and memories can seem less threatening or unbearable. In this way mindfulness can help you to transform your relationship with painful thoughts and feelings, in a way that reduces their impact and influence over your life. When purpose and presence combine within our heart, they provide us with a wonderful experience of privilege.
Interior Balance delivers mindfulness sessions aimed at teaching participants how to cultivate the inner resources that give you the confidence to deal with the ups and downs of life. These inner resources include inner freedom that makes you less vulnerable to ever-changing outer conditions.
When practiced mindfulness can bring out the real you. Others will notice your kindness, compassion, forgiveness, altruism, discipline and laughter.
